When an automation’s Create Task action was configured with Assign Task To: Lead Owner, the task was being assigned to whoever originally created the contact, not the agent the lead is currently assigned to. Recurring follow-up tasks (daily / weekly / bi-weekly call tasks) were silently piling up on admins and account owners who happened to create the lead, while the actual assigned agent never received them.
What’s Fixed
- Automations with Assign Task To: Lead Owner now assign created tasks to the user shown as Assigned to on the lead.
- If the lead has no assigned agent at the moment the automation runs, the task is created unassigned (same behavior as the explicit Unassigned option) so it’s clearly flagged for triage instead of routing to the wrong person.
Migration
No action required. Existing automations don’t need to be re-saved — the fix applies the next time each automation runs.
