Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
IMPORTANT: Your Sure Send verification code comes from an authenticator app on your phone. Sure Send never sends it by text message or email.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second check when you sign in: your password, plus a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. Even if someone gets your password, they can't get into your account without your phone. We recommend 2FA for everyone who uses Sure Send.
Before You Begin
You need a free authenticator app on your phone. Search for one in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Any of these work:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- 1Password, or any other authenticator app you already use
Setup takes a few minutes. Have your phone with you.
Step 1: Open Security Settings
- Type Security in the search bar at the top of Sure Send and select Security Settings. You can also go to Settings > Security.

- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication.

Step 2: Follow the Setup Steps
- Setup. Click Get Started.

- Scan. Open your authenticator app on your phone, add a new account, and scan the QR code on the screen. If you can't scan it, type the key shown under the QR code into the app instead. Click Continue.

- Verify. Your app now shows a 6-digit code for Sure Send. Enter it and click Verify & Enable. The code refreshes after a short time, so use the one showing in the app right now.

- Save Codes. Sure Send shows your backup codes. Click Copy or Download and keep them somewhere safe.

- Done. 2FA is on.
Save your backup codes. They are how you get back into Sure Send if you lose access to your authenticator app.
You must click Copy or Download before you can continue. The button stays on "Save Your Codes First" until you do. Each backup code works once.
Signing In With 2FA
After you enter your password, Sure Send asks for a verification code. Open your authenticator app and enter the 6-digit code it shows for Sure Send. You'll be asked again when you sign in on a new browser or device, or after you log out.
Troubleshooting
"The code doesn't work." Authenticator codes refresh after a short time, and the timing varies by app. Wait for a new code and enter it right away.
"I got a new phone" or "I deleted the app." Sign in with one of your backup codes instead of the app code, then set up 2FA again on your new phone. This is exactly why saving your backup codes matters: they are your way back in.
"I don't have my backup codes." Email [email protected] from the email address on your Sure Send account. We'll reply with the next steps.
"I can't turn 2FA off." Your Team Owner has probably made 2FA required for everyone on your team. Only the Team Owner can change that.
