SMS Credits
SMS Credits
The Credits page is available to Owners only.
Purpose: SMS credits pay for the texts Sure Send sends for you automatically or on a schedule. Knowing which texts use them helps you keep automations and scheduled texts running.

How SMS credits work
Sure Send uses one SMS credit when it sends an automated, scheduled, or API text from a phone number Sure Send provides. The length of the text does not change the cost. If a text goes to several people, each recipient counts as one text.
Uses SMS credits
- Automations: every Send SMS step, including texts sent to a role, a team member, or a related contact.
- Contract milestones: texts sent when a contract reaches a milestone.
- Lead Flow: rules with Send Initial Text Message turned on.
- Appointment reminders: text reminders sent to your clients before an appointment.
- Connect: invite texts and saved-search alert texts.
- Scheduled texts: any one-to-one text you schedule to send later, from a contact, the inbox, or the mobile app.
- API and MCP: texts sent through the Sure Send API or the Sure Send MCP connector, whether sent right away or scheduled.
Does not use SMS credits
- Texts you send right away: from a contact record, a company's Texts tab, the inbox, the mobile app, or the call list dialer.
- Group texts.
- Incoming texts.
- AI agent texts: texts written and sent by an AI agent do not draw from your SMS credits.
- Your own number: texts sent from your own connected Twilio account or from an iMessage line.
- Alerts to your team: text notifications Sure Send sends to you and your team, such as new lead assignments.
- Texts that are never sent: for example, texts to a contact who has opted out or to a landline.
If your SMS credits run out
Automated and scheduled texts wait and retry for a few hours. If credits are not added in that time, those texts do not send. Texts sent through the API or the MCP connector fail right away.
Tip: Turn on Auto Top-up for SMS on the Credits page. You choose a balance threshold and an amount, and Sure Send adds credits automatically when you reach it.
If a text fails
If a text is rejected at the moment it is sent, the credit goes back to your balance automatically. A text that fails later, after it has already been sent to the carrier, still uses its credit.
Buying SMS credits and expiration
SMS credits are not included in Sure Send plans. You buy them on the Credits page as you need them, and purchased SMS credits do not expire.
SMS credits on your Credits page
- Credits Breakdown: the SMS card shows how many credits you have available.
- Your Credit Types: the SMS card shows the cost per credit, your current balance, and the Buy Credits and Auto Top-up buttons. Empty means you have no credits left. Low means you have fewer than 100, or you have reached your auto top-up threshold.
- Recent Transactions: each text that used a credit shows as a usage line.
